Whitelist.Com is...
Bob.
Although in several places on the web site I have used plural words like "we" and "our," my justification for that is to be inclusive of the people who have already helped test the concepts and prototype software. It is our hope that this project will find enough success to allow me to bring in a few more people and form an organization, but "big business" is not and never has been my goal for whitelist. First and foremost, I'm motivated by a desire to stop or at least reduce the huge waste of time and resources caused by unwanted e-mail.
At the same time, a huge opportunity clearly exists, as shown by this "back of the envelope" calculation: If an 'average' computer-equipped office worker costs their employer $100K annually, in compensation plus overhead - still a reasonable figure - and if each of them loses just five minutes per work day scanning and deleting spam ... There are roughly 2,000 hours in a work-year. Divide by eight-hour days: 250 days; Times five minutes: 1250 minutes, or 20.833 hours; At $50/hour: $1041.67; So, every million such people (who lose five minutes per work day) represent over a billion dollars worth of productive time wasted.
