"SPAM" is a trademark of Hormel, and we've tried not to use all-upper-case, to respect their wishes. "Spam" or "spam" often refer to Unsolicited Commercial e-mail ("UCE") and other generally undesirable repetitive things that sometimes happen on the Internet.
Currently, the official SPAM website has the following to say about SPAM and the Internet
"We do not object to use of this slang term to describe UCE, although we do object to the use of our product image in association with that term. Also, if the term is to be used, it should be used in all lower-case letters to distinguish it from our trademark SPAM, which should be used with all uppercase letters."
We at whitelist.com applaud Hormel for maintaining a sense of humor about the whole thing. And we sometimes even buy some SPAM just for fun, although Bob's current favorite product from the Hormel family of companies happens to be Stagg Chili. (Bob particularly likes mixing a can of any of the meaty varieties with one or two cans of "Dynamite Hot")
