Wow, that's a little scary. Slipped an entire year, since I last updated this page. Well, might as well leave the paragraph be:

We had hoped to have the free client available for download by April 15, 2003. But everything in our scheduling is still "preliminary" and subject to change. Currently we are aiming for the first half of June. Obviously, even sooner would be better.

Update: That'll be June 2004, and it probably won't have the full set of client features we'd really like to ship, for another month or so.

Requirements to use the free version are expected to be:

• you use just one e-mail address
• you use just one computer for your e-mail
• you receive your e-mail using the POP3 protocol(*), and send using the SMTP protocol(*). 
• that computer runs Microsoft Windows
  • 95 (requires "winsock 2" update)
  • 98
  • 98 Second Edition
  • ME ("Millennium Edition")
  • 2000
  • XP

(*) note: if you don't know about these e-mail protocols, then it is likely that you do use them - they are the most common.

More advanced versions - supporting the IMAP protocol, allowing multiple addresses, and coordinating the use of more than one computer, are expected starting within approximately two months of the availability of the initial version. It is our intention to price these very reasonably.
